The countdown begins...

So last week I finally broke the news to my mom that I'm moving out. Let's just say that she's not all that happy about it.

Whatever.

If anything, I'm glad that I waited till the last minute to tell her so that she can only try to make me miserable for two weeks as opposed to two months.

I talked to some of my friends about it, and everyone is in agreement that my mom just doesn't want me to leave. Which I can understand. I'm the oldest child, and declaring total independence is a big deal. So of course she's going to say stuff to try to break my confidence and make me think that I really can't do this so I'll punk out and stay home.

I repeat: Whatever.

Checked out the new digs yesterday, and it's pretty sweet. We're going to have a lot of fun once we get everything furnished and decorated and whatnot.

But first, I have to focus on getting packed up and out of this house. But this time, I'm moving everything. Not just the stuff I need to survive at college, but everything. All of my books, my clothes...it's crazy.

I'm leaving all my furniture behind. My bed is too big, my desk and dresser are as old as I am, and I don't really have a real computer desk to take with me. My iMac lives on a slab of particle board that was part of an old desk, held up by four Rubbermaid crates. Classy. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with my stuffed animals. I don't want to get rid of them, but I don't think I'll be able to take them with me now. Hopefully I can convince my mom to let me keep them in the basement until I find a bigger place.

I'm tired. I've been tired ever since I got back from Ohio. And I didn't even switch time zones.

Countdown to move-in day: 9 days.

Soon-to-be independent twentysomething, out.

P.S. The iPod Restoration is almost complete! I should have it done before I move out!
