Might be a quarter-life crisis...
...or just a stirring in my soul.

Yes, boys and girls, I'm winding down a big birthday today. 25. The big 2-5. When your car insurance goes down, you can rent a car without surcharges, you're too old to be on The Real World, and you are officially without a doubt a grownup.
I had been dreading this day for months. Even with a lower car insurance bill in sight, I was not looking forward to today.
But it's here...almost over, in fact...and I cannot believe that I'm here.
Not that I thought wasn't going to live to see 25. I just can't wrap my brain around it.
25 years...is a long time.
I didn't want to get up this morning...but I did. I honestly don't know why I was making such a big deal out of it. But I got up and went to work anyway. Good thing I did - the gang at work got me a cake and a card and I was totally not expecting it and it made me feel a lot better. Even if you don't like to make a big deal out of your birthday (and this was the first year that I didn't make a big deal about it except for the fact that I didn't wan to think about it at all), it's still nice when someone makes it special.
25.
At least I can say that of all the crazy and impulsive things that I have done so far, the biggest and craziest one has been the best for me. Moving to Florida on a month's notice with no job lined up and a dying car is not something that I would have ever thought I'd do. (Duh--I didn't know I was seriously going to do it until I decided to do so 7 months ago. Has it been that long already?) But I did it, and it's been a hell of a ride so far...especially since it was up until like November that I would have given almost anything to give up and go back home.
But it was sunny this morning and the high temp was 80 (with rain in the afternoon). That beats freezing rain or sleet or blizzard or -72 windchill any damn day.
So I don't plan on leaving Florida any time soon.
All in all...despite my attempts to make it a miserable day..today was a good one. Wishes from friends and family and co-workers, a little bit of sun, and the truth of the fact that 25 ain't all that bad - adds up pretty well for me.
Happy Quarter-Centennial to me!
