2013
Some random thoughts and notes here in the new year:
-I'm keeping the title of the blog the same, despite my ever-advancing age. That statement is the closest I plan to get to talking about my actual age in the near future.
-I am predicting one of two fates for the ex-boyfriend. He will either find someone with low standards and lower self-esteem who will be willing to keep him around even after discovering what an epic douchebag he is; or he will win the contest between he and his cousins and be the first to actually die in a drunk driving incident. It is inherently wrong to wish the latter option for him, yet I do not wish the former option upon anyone else. Quite a quandary indeed, since these are the only two possible options.
-Where has Khan Academy been all my life? Re-learning basic math is finally possible. Correction: learning basic math (and beyond!) is finally possible for me.
-I am lifting my American Idol boycott. The talent is pretty decent, but my real reason for watching is the opportunity to be bathed in the glorious diva-ness that is Mariah Carey. I can't stop watching her.
-Movies are failing hard for me right now. It's 2013, but the same tired whitewashed crap keeps coming out year after year. There's a new Wizard of Oz themed movie coming out soon. It has all four witches in it, and they're all white. That's some bullshit.
-TV isn't doing half bad, thanks to my girl Shonda Rhimes and her new show Scandal. I want more stuff like this show. I want to be Olivia Pope, minus the affair with the president thing. Ok, maybe I don't need to be Olivia. I just want her hair and her wardrobe. Is this how white girls felt about Rachel on Friends back in the day?
-2011 was the year I got my swagger back. I might have lost a bit of the swagger recently, but I'm rocking the Independent Woman status (a la Destiny's Child), so I really shouldn't complain.
That's all for now.
