On exciting new things...
I secured a job on Friday, provided that I pass the classic "pee in this cup and prove that you don't do drugs" test. Which is not a problem. I start training on Tuesday, then I go full time and start running shit next Monday.
I'm really excited about the new gig, which is good considering that I'm taking a flippin' huge cut in pay. But there's a lot of opportunities that await me (and a promised increase to my quoted minimum salary by Christmas), so I can't complain.
I really wish that I could tell y'all exactly what I'm doing. But since it's a fairly new enterprise and we only have one other competitor that we know of right now, I am choosing not to divulge too much information in the interest of...well...keeping my future looking as bright as possible. I mean, it's not like I've ever been totally forthcoming with the details of any of my jobs (with the exception of The Cheesecake Factory aka The Evil Place), so it's not like I'm really doing anything new here. But then again, since I don't know who reads this, I'd rather keep some stuff top secret. Besides, that makes my job sound all the much cooler because it keeps you guessing. And if you've been following this for any considerable amount of time, you know that I love to keep people guessing.
I will say this about my new job. I'll get to be in charge of a lot of stuff, and I'll get to make changes to improve things and leave my mark on stuff, and have the potential to travel anywhere I want to and tell people what to do and decide how things are run. I'll get to be the boss of a lot of things. And that is awesome.
You know what's nuts? I've been living down here for 3 weeks now and I still haven't been to the beach yet. I haven't even made my way back down to South Beach. I did, however, do happy hour in the FtL on Friday night and got right toasty. That was fun.
I miss my whole gang at the karaoke bar back up in Jersey. It was fun to be part of a weird and crazy little family, and to see the same faces every week and keep up on all the gossip and all that stuff. And I really miss singing. So I'm trying to scope out a new place to go down here, but it's hard since I don't know anybody and I don't know where to go and all that crap.
At this point I'm just rambling because it's 12:30 in the morning and I have nothing else better to do than drink a beer and blog. Well, I could be reading Anna Karenina (a project I began back in March), but I think I'll just read the Times magazine instead.
Side note #1: I got hooked on a British show called Footballers Wive$ and it's the best show ever. Too bad they're not running it on BBC America anymore and I only got to watch 2 episodes of it.
Side note #2: Flight of the Conchords on HBO is also the best show ever.
Side note #3: I absolutely cannot wait for college football to start. Mostly because ESPN looks absolutely fucking gorgeous in HD.
