omgwtfbbq it's June!
Yes, I know that I am 25 years old and therefore a bit old to be using "the text-speak" in my blog, let alone the very title of a post.
Stfu. I don't care. Because seriously, how the hell is it June already? June and insufferably hot and sticky outside? (Yes, I know I live in in South Florida, but even the locals are saying that it's too effing hot for this time of year!) I repeat, omgwtfbbq!
(What's actually really scary is that I have made a lot of the new internet lingo and kitty pidgin part of my everyday conversations with my sister.)
Another side note: I'm listening to Pandora right now...just created a new station because I needed some new beats, and a freakin' Joss Stone song comes on. I'm sorry, but I just don't like her. I don't know why everyone keeps flipping out over her. I mean, yes, she has one of those "blue-eyed soul" type of voices, but she sounds like she's trying too hard. That's just my opinion. I'm an Amy Winehouse fan. And a Duffy fan. Btdubs, all of the buzz surrounding Duffy's album is well-earned praise...the album is freakin' awesome. Pick it up immediately.
So where was I? Right-right....it's June and we're almost halfway(!) through 2008 and I felt like doing some assessment of the year so far.
Well, I really can't complain about these past few months when looking at it in an overall capacity. I mean, the sucky things that happened (worst post b-day party hangover ever, going to the ER at 3am with hives, fighting with and subsequently dumping Captain Douchebag) really aren't all that tragic despite my best effort to make them sound horrifically tragic (remember, this is a quasi-soap!). Bombing the math section of the GMAT (while getting a perfect writing score and a damn good verbal score) and subsequently getting denied admission to business school don't even hold the catastrophic weight that I would normally make of such events occuring.
To be perfectly honest, I had way too many things working against me with the business school app thing...especially since my (now former) boss totally pulled a dick move and spent all of 20 minutes on my recommendation. I majored in theater, for pete's sake! But I bet if my boss had taken the time to explain how invaluable I was to the company, I might have had a chance.
Oh well, I don't work there any more.
I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time and have an awesome opportunity fall into my lap. So now I have a management position with a major nationwide retailer in a brand new store and I couldn't be more thrilled. For a retail nerd like me, there is nothing cooler than getting to be part of the grand opening for a new location. And my job is going to be pretty freaking cool, and I'll be making a little more money than I was at the last place. So all in all, things are good.
Like I said, I can't complain about much. Except for the fact that it's too hot outside for June 5th. And how much I dislike Joss Stone. And how I can't believe it's June already. But that's all for now...gotta go and keep on enjoying life.
Kthxbai!
