The Final Countdown

Eventually I will post my blog about my early voting experience...it's quite interesting.

My advice to those of you who can early vote: Do it. Now. If the lines are long, bring a comfy chair and a book. Just do it so you can get out of the way of the insanity that will commence on the 4th.

Can't early vote? You better have your ass at the polls next Tuesday. I believe I have stressed enough throughouth this year just how friggin' important the election is. No excuses - you must vote.

Now that I have that out of the way, let's talk about something else because we're all pretty much electioned out.

A while back I talked about how excited I was about the new TV season and all of the shows I was going to watch and how frickin fantastic September is, blah, blah, and so on. So I thought that today I'd go back over my list and provide some commentary on what's been going on with my shows and everything. **Spoiler alerts are in effect for the remainder of this post. I know everyone's at different spots with their Tivos and bootleg Tivos and Hulu viewing and Bit Torrents and all that. I'm going to be talking about everything I've seen, so if you don't want me to be "that guy who spoils shows," do not read on unless you've viewed tv eps that aired through October 27th.**

Onward, then:

Sunday: Desperate Housewives, True Blood, and Family Guy.

DH is starting off ok, I guess. I miss fabulous Gaby from 5 years ago, and watching her and Carlos sell off the Maserati a few weeks ago crushed me a little inside too. Susan is still annoying and I don't like the fact that TPTB opened up the door for her to get back with Mike (come on, you know they're going to do it). Stop rewarding her for being totally stupid! I'm really interested to see just who Edie's new husband is trying to get revenge against. It's nice to see a return to a darker storyline...last season got pretty ridiculous with the creepy stepdaughter, Bree's faux pregnancy and The Tornado (that took Carlos and Gaby's money away - boo!).

Family Guy is still insane. And The Bird is The Word. That is all. (Check out the 2nd ep of the season if you don't get it.)

True Blood = Awesome. If you're ballin' enough to have HBO, you must check out this show. If you don't like it, pick up the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris, read a few of the books, then come back to the show. It is awesome. And if you don't have HBO, you should still read the books...they put Stephenie Meyer's series to shame (and they're so much fun).

Also on the list is the mandatory 7pm viewing of America's Funniest Home Videos. Even though some of the lamest ones get picked to win, the show is still funny (now that we all pretend like the John Fugelsang and Daisy Fuentes era never existed). In our apartment, the only reason AFV isn't on is because there's a really good football game on. Those are the rules.

Monday: How I Met Your Mother, Heroes, and Boston Legal

HIMYM is off to a shaky start, but I love the show so much that I don't care.

Heroes = Sucktastic. My sister is still hanging in there, however. The first few eps made my brain hurt because I was so upset over how ridiculous the storylines are getting. People who are supposed to be dead are back, characters are still getting sent to far-flung places for no good reason, and the show just isn't fun. If I had full control of the DVR, this show would have had its series record privileges revoked two weeks ago.

Boston Legal is one of those shows that I enjoy when I watch it but I'm not bummed if I miss it. and I'll delete it if it's sat for more than a week without being watched. Meh. I'm sticking with it simply because Alan and Denny's antics are just too entertaining.

I've also started catching Jon & Kate Plus 8 on TLC on Mondays or in reruns when I'm not watching other stuff. I really like the show because they're real people. And the sextuplets are so adorable. 17 Kids And Counting also comes on on Mondays. That show is so scary but you can't change the channel. It's a full series about the Duggar family...who have 17 kids and counting. I...can't really go into the creepy factor of this show without offending people with conservative Christian values, but these people are definitely out there as far as I'm concerned. Just give an ep or two a whirl if you happen to catch it.

Tuesdays: House and 90210

House: All I can say is welcome back, Wilson! Let the bromance between you and House continue. Don't break up again. Ever.

As for 90210...still predictable, still cheesy, and I still like it a lot. Mostly because of Tristan Wilds. As lame at it makes me, this show is 1 or 2 eps away from series recording privileges. The only other thing about the show that bugs me is that the guy half of the cast is kinda diverse, but there are no girls of color in the main cast (the narc doesn't count). Come on, writers...you can do better.

Dirty Jobs is also back on Tuesdays...and I love it. Pretty soon they're going to have to start airing it at 10 because of all the wonderfully dirty entendres, but I don't care. The show is hi-lari-ous and reminds us all why it's so important to graduate from high school.

Wednesday: Mythbusters, Project Runway, and Dirty Sexy Money

Mythbusters continues to blow shit up. Hence, it is awesome.

Project Runway ended two weeks ago. I'm pissed that Korto lost, but I understand (kinda) why Leanne won. Honestly, I'm just glad that I don't have to listen to Kenley's voice anymore.

Dirty Sexy Money is still fun, but I wish the tone was lighter like it was when the show first started. Meh, I still love it, and the gratuitous aerial shots of Manhattan make it all worth it.

Thursday. We'll start with ABC first: Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Life on Mars.

Ugly Betty. Waaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!! Betty, why did you not go to Rome with Gio?!? Now Gio hates you and he's gone and you can't have anymore of his sandwiches! Boo! In other news, the Lindsey Lohan guest spot has been fun. If Daniel and Wilhemina hook up, I might throw up (plus, that's totally predictable and UB is better than that, right?). Also, mad props for finally bringing the show to New York, allowing for more gratuitous location shots. Since I'm god-knows-how-many thousand miles from NYC, I can at least live vicariously through my tv shows. *sniff* Bryant Park in the fall, how I miss thee!

Grey's is enjoyable as always, I guess. Callie and Hahn? Meh. It will be interesting to see where the writers take it. I could care less about Mer-Der at this point...she's so hopelessly broken that it may take years of therapy before she should even think about possibly marrying him. I'm rooting for Izzie and Karev, though. Karev is also quite broken, but Izzie could be good for him if he'd stop acting like such an ass. (Secretly, I'm hoping Private Practice gets canceled and Addison comes back to Seattle Grace...the chemistry between Addy and Karev was awesome and I hated seeing that get cut short!) Plus, any further advancement of Izzie's character that pushes the Awfulness That Was Izzie and George farther away from recent memory will help us all in the long run. I cannot wait until McArmy comes back this week...it's time for Christina to get out of dark & twisty mode! And I would like the writers to know that we are not amused with the whole "Lexie's in luuuurve with George just like he luuuurved Meredith" bit. It's lazy, it's lame, and honestly, I haven't really liked George since he married Callie. And unless you're going to give Lexie something else to do than give George puppy-dog eyes or annoy Meredith, maybe she shouldn't be there anymore. I am wondering what sweeps-tastic disaster the writing staff has in store for us since we've already witnessed a major indoor flooding and an impalement-by-icicle. (Seriously?!?)

Life on Mars was intriguing at first, but it's slowly getting old. There's not enough explanation as to what's really going on with the guy (coma, time travel, etc.), so there's no way for him to fight to get back. So we're just stuck in the 70's with Michael Imperioli's porn-stache and Harvey Keitel taking any opportunity to punch someone. We get it. Cops in the 70's got away with beating the crap out of people and treating people like crap. Here's a news flash: They still get away with it. They just don't do it to white people anymore (see: Diallo, Amadou; Bell, Sean; New Jersey State Troopers). This week may be the last one I give to Life on Mars.

Ok, now the NBC Shows: My Name Is Earl, Kath & Kim, The Office, 30 Rock, and ER

My Name Is Earl really hasn't grabbed me. I revoked the series record privileges, and I still don't miss it. I guess I could catch it online when I'm bored. It just wasn't as funny this time around.

Kath & Kim: NBC, I want that half hour of my life back. Now.

The Office: Ok, if NBC can't give me that half hour of Kath & Kim back, then I want them to do whatever it takes to keep Amy Ryan on the show forever and ever and ever. I love the work that she's doing on the show and I will be so sad when she leaves because her character is so perfect for Michael and he needs that. PB&J are still awesome, and the writers are doing a great job with keeping us on our toes...but I think they know that if anything were to happen to PB&J, there would be a riot. And I totally cannot wait for Dwight to wreak havoc on Angela and Andy's wedding. The comedic genius possibilities are endless.

30 Rock: Premieres this Thursday. I will definitely give it a go. If I like it, I'll also Netflix seasons 1 and 2.

ER: Is typical ER. I do however, wish I knew more of what happened in years past. I'm also interested in witnessing each exit and I wonder who will be last, especially since Abby's already gone. Wasn't the shot of the wall with everyone's name plates awesome, though?

And that....is my early pre-sweeps commentary on my tv shows. Fridays are still catch up days, but now I will split that time between tv catch up and Guitar Hero World Tour. Yes, I'm one of those people. But I don't care. The game has Hotel California. Ho-tel Cal-i-forn-ia. Omg omg omg omg omg! Sorry, that's been one of my dream GH songs since I started playing the game. My goal with this game is to get to the point where I can sing and play drums or guitar at the same time. Yes, I'm a dork. Whatevs.

Sorry for a long pointless post. I figured anything not having to do with politics is sorely needed right now. Don't forget to vote!!!
