RIP iPod 2003-2008
I said the next post would be from home, but I just made a horrible discovery:
My iPod is dead. It has passed on. It is no more. It has ceased to be.
(Apologies to the geniuses from Monty Python.)
I plugged it into the charger, got one flash of the dead battery signal, and then nothing.
Blank. Resetting it doesn't work. It's been charging for 2 hours. I plugged it into the computer, and nothing. If I hold it up to my ear, I can hear its little hard drive (yeah, it's so old, it still has a hard drive) gasping for breath, trying to turn over.
But it will not. It is dead.
This is the replacement iPod, mind you. The one I just replaced like two years ago. Exact same model, just brand new. Or refurbished. Anyway, it doesn't matter. It's dead.
Two frickin' days before Christmas, 8 hours before I have to be on an airplane, and my iPod dies.
To be fair, I haven't used it since my last beach day in June. So it has probably died of neglect. And it is a 5 year old model, a 3rd gen 20-gig with docking station. So it makes sense that it's dead.
But how am I supposed to survive the airport at the holidays without my iPod?
OMG this is serious. My old school Discman is not an option because that involves carrying CD's and I'll just end up taking the ones I don't want and leaving the good ones at home. I don't even know where my old Discman is! There is no point in driving all the way to the 24 hour Walmart for a cheap $20 bootleg iPod that may or may not work with my computer. I can't even really justify asking for a new iPod because I don't use the one that I have.
Had. It is dead.
Dammitdammitdammitdammitdammit!!!!!
Do you know how much a good iPod costs? I'm talking about one that can hold my entire CD collection, which is roughly 220 albums. Let's take a look at the Apple Store and find out...
Hmm...
I could skimp on storage (since I do have some albums that aren't iPod worthy) and get a 16-gig Nano for $200 or blow an extra $50 and get a 120-gig Classic.
$250, when we are in a recession and I have been broke since I moved down here, is a lot of money for an iPod that I don't regularly use.
But I neeeeeed one! Now I'm the only one in my house without an iPod! I'm the only kid on the block without an iPod! Everyone else has one and mine is dead and since I asked for a new purse and Flight of the Conchords on DVD, I'm not getting an iPod! My sister will probably get a new one since that's all she asked for, but I will not.
My iPod is dead, it's midnight, I still have laundry to finish and I have to pack everything and all I really want to do is throw a temper tantrum.
Seriously. Pissed. Off. Right now.
