I miss my iPod!
How spoiled am I?
I got hooked up for Christmas, lugging home a suitcase filled with a new game for my Nintendo DS, a few gift cards, a 4th Wii controller and SD card and a brand spanking new Kate Spade tote bag (::squeeeeeeeeee::), but now I'm back at home trying to figure out how to get my hands on a new iPod or like equivalent and hook it up in my car for an affordable price.
Easier said than done.
And I'm a spoiled brat.
Granted, I haven't used my iPod since June. I can't use it in my new car because I don't have an aux jack or a tape deck. I refuse to use an FM transmitter because those things only work if you live in Outer Mongolia and there are no radio stations broadcasting on any frequency on the dial. So I've been toting roughly a quarter of my CD collection in my glove compartment and center console, which is not appropriate care for my precious discs. Additionally, I'm limited to whatever I have in my car at that given moment, which is not cool if you want to listen to the Spring Awakening soundtrack and have to settle for Dispatch or Cake again.
Can I honestly say that I would use a mp3 player in my car if I had the means to do so? I'd like to think so. Especially if it's going to cost me upwards of $300 to do it. $150 for a new faceplate and installation, and another $150 for a bootleg iPod or a 16-gig Nano (that I will probably break - those things are tiny!).
Grrr. And dammit dammit dammit.
I think I'm more pissed that my old iPod just doesn't work any more. I have half a mind to take it in to the Apple store and see if there's anything that can be done for my little iPuck. I'll probably be laughed at, but honestly, my parents dropped $300 bucks on the damn thing. It should last longer than 5 years!
Holy shit.
I just decided to give the old iPod one last shot, for old time's sake. Mostly because the nearest Apple store is about a 1/2 hour away and I didn't want to drive all that way to get laughed at.
Wouldn't you know that the damn thing booted up and is charging away? And at first glance, it appears that all of the music is still on there?
A Christmas miracle! 4 days after the fact, but a miracle nonetheless!
Hooray!
Provided that the iPod is really and truly working again maybe I'll make a New Year's resolution to use my iPod more since it does not take kindly to neglect. I will love it and pamper it and make it happy since I can ill afford to buy a new one. And honestly, I love my ancient iPod and I really don't want a new one.
Sigh.
Back to unpacking and getting ready to go back to work tomorrow.
