But before I go...

I'm really going to go to bed after I tell this story.

We went to this cool restaurant called Joe's Crab Shack for dinner, and I decided to have fried shrimp and snow crab legs. What I forgot when I ordered my crab legs is that I'm rather inept with that little nutcracker tool thingie that you're supposed to use. I'm a very good sport about it, but usually my mom steps in and helps me out. Out of pity, I guess.

Well, tonight she decided to let me suffer and struggle on my own. And I think the fact that I'm 22 years old had something to do with it too. Or maybe she just wanted some dinner entertainment. So I'm sitting there trying to get the claw part of the crab separated from the rest of its leg, and I'm pulling and cracking and pulling and cracking...nothing's happening. All of a sudden, the claw just kinda pops off and flies in the air.

Now this is all happening in slow motion at this point, and I'm having one of those split-second nightmares of my crab claw flying across the room and stabbing someone in the eye or something horrible like that. Instead, the claw lands back on my plate, splattering bits of crab and melted butter all over my face.

Lovely.

In other words: I fought the claw, and the claw won.

*nervous giggle as I seem to get the joke but no one else does*

Ok, if you didn't get the joke, here's what you do:

1) Smack yourself for not being knowledgable of music that doesn't involve MTV.
2) Download the song "I Fought the Law" by the Bobby Fuller Four off the file sharing program of your choice (cause if you didn't get the joke, you definitely know how to get free music).
3) Listen to the song, realize that you've heard it on the oldies station before when you were out shopping somewhere.
4) Read my story again.

You are now free to laugh and feel a fraction more culturally enlightened.

Tee hee, cheesy jokes and a 60's rock history lesson. Does it get any better than that?
