The iPod saga continues...

So my precious back-from-the-dead iPod is fully charged and hooked up to the computer. What's the first thing I see upon hooking it up?

I only have enough room on the damn thing for about 2 more albums. I can easily rattle off at least 5 CDs that I've bought since last updating my iPod.

Damn, damn, damn!

Why does Apple keep phasing out moderately sized iPods? What happened to the 40 gig and 80 gig machines? Why am I forced to choose between 16 gigs and 120 gigs? The hard drive on my laptop doesn't even have 120 gigs! I don't need the space for movies or pictures or any of that other crap, just my music. And I have to spend $250 for space that I don't need! Do you know what would happen by the time I was able to amass a large enough music collection to fill a 120 gig iPod? The damn thing would be dead! Because a new iPod will not last as long as the old one has!

Oh my god, I'm starting to sound like my mother.

Maybe I'll just (*cringe*) buy an iPod on eBay. That way I'll get the storage space that I want at a decent price.

Or...I could ask for a new one for my birthday, even though I openly admitted that I don't really use the one that I have. But I did say that I would start using the old one. And if there's no room on the old one, then that means it's time for a new one. And last year on my birthday my mom said I could call in for a present whenever I saw something that I really wanted. The one thing I eventually wanted (a plane ticket home for a weekend last summer) was out of the acceptable price range, so technically I still have an imaginary coupon good for One 25th Birthday Present. And since that coupon hasn't been redeemed, can't I technically roll it over for my next birthday? Then I'd have twice the present allotment on one day, therefore justifying a brandy-new shiny iPod with more than enough space!

I am really and truly spoiled, and I am ashamed of myself for the above display of true brattiness. If I really want a new iPod, I should just save up my money and buy one.

I also feel the need to disclose that this year I have donated money to at least 2 charitable causes, I regularly donate wearable clothes that I no longer wear, and I helped a class full of 3rd graders participate in a holiday book exchange. So while I might be obsessed with my current personal electronics crisis, I do care about less fortunate people in this world and I do what I can when I can to help out.

Back to the iPod Saga.

Would it really be so bad to go ahead and ask for a new iPod for my birthday? I mean, I'm not going to come up with anything else that I want since I just got hooked up for Christmas. And I always complain that my family is the worst family to shop for because we just buy stuff for ourselves. And I'm sure that if the the iPod near-death experience had happened two or three weeks before Christmas instead of two or three days, I probably would have a new iPod right now.

Maybe. The Kate Spade bag was a pretty big deal. (I'm just looking for another excuse to mention it because I loves loves loves my new bag!)

Le sigh. To ask for a new iPod, or to keep my mouth shut? That is the question.

Now I really must go to bed. I should have taken tomorrow off from work, but I'm trying to save any extra vacay days for an emergency. C'est la vie.
