grrrrrrrrrrrrr......
So i went to the toy store today to talk to the head manager and stuff. i saw karen, the senior mgr. who i talked to the other day, and she said, "don't say anything about management stuff!"
i guess i didn't give you all the other part of the story the other day, as i was so excited about possibly leaving cheesecake.
ok, so the head manager of the store is a very unhappy and conflicted person. he's getting married in a few weeks, and his fiancee has been nagging him about working somewhere else other than the toy store. originally he said that he was going to leave at the end of last christmas. then he said June. it's july 1st and he's still there. he can't make up his mind as to whether he wants to stay or go. he talks to karen about how the store's going to be hers and she's the boss and all this other stuff. then he'll start talking about all the ideas that he has for christmas and black friday and all that other stuff. it's driving everyone crazy, needless to say.
it essentially comes down to this: he has to leave by september if he doesn't want to work the holiday season. if he leaves, they're going to need another assistant manager and i'd get the instant in (due to seniority and experience and everything). if he stays, i might be able to get a full time seasonal assistant position, but i'd be booted out of there right after New Year's (if i'm lucky).
when karen mentioned to frank (head manager guy) that i'd be a great candidate for an assistant mgr position, he apparently got pissed because he's having one of his "who said i was leaving the store?" days. that's why i was told not to say anything about manager stuff. lovely.
the backup plan is in effect, though. a whole bunch of people are going on vacation during the first week of august, so they need some people to pick up a few hours that week. i'm going to take that week off from cheesecake and pick up as many shifts at the toy store. try to get my foot in the door, you know?
or....
i'm taking practically the last week of july off because rachel is coming to visit and then i'd be taking that first week in august off to be at the toy store, and i don't want to go back to cheesecake at all. i should just give cheesecake my two weeks (intead of asking for a 2 week vacay, which they won't give me) and find something else. if the toy store thing pans out, it pans out. if not, i'll just find something else. anything else. i just gotta get out of cheesecake and soon. otherwise i might just snap and get myself fired. which wouldn't be so bad either. i mean, i've only been there a month...there's no point in putting it on my lousy resume.
well, that just gives me more stuff to think about while i'm at work.
at the (say it with me kids!) fucking cheesecake factory.
